You can create custom sound effects in Super Mario Maker

Super Mario Maker is launching next month on Wii U and Nintendo has been gearing up by sharing more information about the game. In a new trailer released today, Nintendo revealed that players will have the ability to create their own custom sound effects for their levels. According to the announcement, custom sound effects can even have a visual effect on some of the levels.

New sound effects and music block customization – You can create your own sound effects in Super Mario Maker, with some sounds even generating fun visuals! And by shaking a classic Note Block during level creation, it becomes a Music Block. When something activates one of these Music Blocks, it will play a note based on its height, allowing players to arrange songs of all types.

This effectively turns Super Mario Maker into a combination of Mario Paint and the Rayman music levels, so it’ll be interesting to see what kind of creations focus on re-creating famous melodies.
