Motorola Connect allows you to control your smartphone from your Chrome browser

Isn’t pulling out your phone just to see who is calling or texting a pain? Don’t call me lazy just yet, I just prefer to be more efficient. Motorola has released a very nice tool right before the announcement of their brand new Moto X. It allows you to see who is calling or texting your device straight from your Chrome browser.

It comes in the form of a Chrome extension and goes by the name of Motorola Connect. The description mentions that you will be able to see who is calling, receive text messages and even send texts. All without even needing to pull your phone out of your pocket.

We have seen some similar apps and Chrome extensions. In a way, it would be a similar experience to Google Voice, but working directly with the device. Such tool coming from a manufacturer is an oddity, though. We are glad to see Motorola stepping it up with such features. It will make the already unique Moto X even better.

You can already download the extension from the Chrome Web Store, but it won’t do much if you don’t have one of Motorola’s compatible phones. The app is only compatible with the Moto X, DROID Ultra, DROID Maxx and DROID Mini so far.

We sure hope more device get support soon. Maybe they can even drop the Motorola exclusivity! But we doubt it. It would also be nice to be able to see other notifications if possible, including emails and other messages.
