Shigeru Miyamoto has been pretty busy after E3. In addition to discussing the reasoning behind why multiple GamePad support isn’t a priority for Nintendo right now and neither is virtual reality gaming, he recently sat down with Kotaku to discuss the future of the Wii U. During that interview he posed an interesting question, in that he asked Kotaku to poll its readers to discuss what type of game they’d like to see from Nintendo next.
One of the uniquenesses of Wii U [is that] this is a device that’s really suited to being connected to the TV in your living room, and it has a lot of very convenient applications that you can use there. We’re going to continue to design our games in a way that are suited to play in the living room—whether it’s one person playing and everyone enjoying that by watching—but we’re also working on a number of additional games that we’re designing and releasing next year as well.
That’s pretty standard product promotion from one of the major creative directors at Nintendo, but Miyamoto went a bit further with it by saying:
Maybe you can do a poll for Kotaku readers to see which game you want us to make for Wii U, and, if you get a good answer, you can give us a call.
Of course, Miyamoto was likely being cheeky with that comment, but perhaps he’s underestimated just how much Nintendo fans both new and old would like to have a voice in what the company does next. Currently the most suggested project is an HD remake of Majora’s Mask on Wii U, which is something that Nintendo has hinted at in the past.
