Konami code: Chromebook Pixel easter egg gives you a light show

Pixel-lights

If you have a Chromebook Pixel you can be proud to know you have the best Chrome OS laptop in the planet. The laptop is built like a beast, with amazing build quality, stunning specs and a display that competes against (and arguably beats) the best in the market. It also has some hidden goodies, though.

One of the most unique features of the Chromebook Pixel is the lightbar. Right now it’s there to look nice, but we believe Google will make it much more functional in the future. The latest easter egg is pure testament of such argument. This easter egg uses the lightbar to give you a cool light show.

This hidden treasure is called the Konami Code. All you have to do to activate the feature is input a series of keys in the keyboard.

How to activate the Konami Code in a Chromebook Pixel

  • Press up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A.

After that, the lightbar will simply start going off, showing you all kinds of colors. It’s nice and all, but it’s more exciting to see that Google is doing more to do different things with the lightbar. I would love to see extensions and apps using it as a notification bar, and this easter eggs shows us such features are not as far-fetched.

It would be great to see if the HP Chromebook 11 can do this too. It is the only other Chromebook with a lightbar. We are sure many of you have one of these two Chromebooks, so it would be great to read your experiences in the comments!
