Famitsu has revealed their Famitsu Award winners for the 2015 year and it might not surprise you, but Splatoon has taken the Game of the Year award from the prestigious Japanese magazine. Other honorees included The Witcher 3, Fallout 4, Bloodborne, and several more titles. Aside from just taking the Game of the Year award, Splatoon was also honored with an award in innovation and the rookie award, which goes to entirely new franchises each year.

Super Mario Maker was also honored by the magazine, picking up an Innovation and Excellence award as well. Japanese fans chose Hideo Kojima as the MVP of 2015, most likely as a result of his conflict and departure from long-time studio Konami.
