Zelda: Breath of the Wild runs at 720p, 30 fps

The guys over at Digital Foundry, famous for their technical analysis of games and how well they run, got their hands on Zelda Breath of the Wild and did some tests.

And according to their results, Breath of the Wild runs at 720p resolution (1280 x 720), and targets 30 frames per second. We say “targets” because there are noticeable frame rate drops during intense action scenes.

Of course, the game isn’t done yet, so we’re sure Nintendo will do a lot of optimizing — after all, there’s almost a year left before it’s released.

While Digital Foundry was impressed with the game’s open world and its visuals, they found that combat tended to really drag the frame rate down: in many combat scenes, the frame rate can drop to as low as 20 fps, which is considered barely playable.

What’s also interesting is the Breath of The Wild has no anti-aliasing or anisotropic filtering, resulting in blurry textures just meters away from Link.

If that’s not good enough for you, there’s the NX version to consider, which will have updated visuals, according to Nintendo.
