Zelda: Breath of the Wild has to sell 2 million copies to turn a profit

In a recent conference with investors, Nintendo talked about Zelda: Breath of the Wild, which is by far the biggest Nintendo game in years.

Nintendo says that the game has so sell 2 million units in order to make a profit for the company. The game has been in development for over 5 years, and anything that long in development requires lots of funds to keep going.

While 2 million might sound like a lot, it’s actually not that much in today’s video game industry. Most big budget third party games have to sell at least a few million units just to break even.

Zelda: Breath of the Wild can and will easily sell 2 million units. Heck, Splatoon has sold more than twice that, and it was only released on the Wii U, while Zelda will be released on the NX as well.

It’ll probably sell 2 million in its first few weeks as an NX launch title.
