Earlier this week the team at Yacht Club Games took to Twitter to announce that development of the upcoming Plague of Shadows DLC for Shovel Knight was wrapped up. If you’re unfamiliar with the DLC, it’s a completely free update that will be released and will allow players to assume the role of the mysterious Plague Knight, one of the bosses that you’ll encounter if you haven’t yet finished the main game.
You’ll help the Plague Knight concoct the Serum Supernus, which is the Ultimate Potion. But before the potion can be made, you’ll need to help the Plague Knight extract several different ingredients from his allies within the Order of No Quarter. Plague Knight’s play-style differs from Shovel Knight’s, so you’ll have a completely new experience with classic and new enemies introduced in the DLC.
The team also confirmed that this might not be the last expansion for Shovel Knight, as they’re looking into expanding the lore around Spectre Knight and King Knight respectively.
