We already know that the Wii U will be quite a potent console, and according to Nintendo’s Satoru Iwata, the Wii U will also be able to handle 3D. However, Iwata also stated that 3D isn’t Nintendo’s main objective with the Wii U:
“If you are going to connect Wii U with a home TV capable of displaying 3D images, technologically, yes, it is going to be possible, but that’s not the area we are focusing on.”
Iwata continued, saying that 3D TVs aren’t widespread enough for Nintendo to spend resources developing 3D technology. Instead, Iwata said, Nintendo would rather focus on “each Wii U owner being able to have an equal opportunity to enjoy it”.
