Nintendo’s Wii U Summer Tour advertising familiar characters

One of the biggest complaints many fans and analysts have about Nintendo’s Wii U strategy so far is the lack of advertising. When the Wii launched, everyone remembers the almost memetic commercials of the two Japanese guys showing up saying “We would like to play.” It was clever and memorable and that exact sort of advertisement is something the Wii U is missing.

Nintendo is taking to the streets to show off the virtues of the Wii U, as recorded by The Bit Beacon. After a trip to Disneyland in Anaheim, California, the author notes that images of the Wii U were everywhere, including a play booth and familiar characters we’ve all grown to love. The above image is an advertisement for the recently announced HD remake of The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker. You can check out the other images over on the Bit Beacon blog.
