People are focusing too much on Wii U specs, says Tekken dev

People are focusing to much on Wii U specs, says Tekken developer Katsuhiro Harada. Rather than focusing on power and the internal hardware of the Wii U, he believes developers should focus what makes the console unique: its tablet controller and motion controls. “You really have to be looking at the capabilities and what features it has.”, says Harada in a recent interview with gaming site Dusty Cartridge.

Katsuhiro Harada on Wii U specsThis isn’t the first time Harada has voiced his opinions on the Wii U console. Over the past few weeks, he has come out of nowhere and become one of the biggest commentators on the Wii U from the developer’s world. He previously said such things as “the Wii U CPU is underclocked“, when talking about the Wii U specs, and he claimed that the tablet controller is distracting for fighting games. Harada and his team at Namco are currently working on the Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Wii U edition. Harada mentions that the development team will use the tablet controller not to introduce new game mechanics, but to “enhance gameplay” and make it more convenient. Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will feature over 40 fighters from the Tekken franchise, and several new game modes. It’s scheduled for release this Winter.
