Wii U release date rumored for Nov 18, then denied

The first mention of a November 18 release date for the Wii U was done by us here at Wii U Daily back in April, and since then numerous reports have all but confirmed this date. The latest to rumor to suggest a November 18 Wii U release date comes from accessory maker PDP, which said its accessories would be available for Wii U launch on November 18. However, the company quickly backtracked, saying the “release date” was meant for accessories for the upcoming Epic Mickey 2: The Power of 2, which is set to hit the stores on the same day. The news was leaked at a GameStop managers conference, which already has Wii U banners up (see image below).

Everything we’ve heard so far has indicated that the Wii U release date will be set in November. Last month, two game publishers hinted at a Wii U launch in November for their games: SEGA hinted with Sonic & All Stars Racing Transformed, and D3 Publisher hinted for Rise of The Guardians.

Nintendo is set to announce the Wii U release date, price, and launch lineup on September 13. Until then, we expect the rumors to keep rolling in until Nintendo makes it official.
