New adapter lets you use a PlayStation 4 controller with the Wii U

Wii U PS4 controller

For those who like a more classic controller, Nintendo is selling the Wii U Pro controller for use instead of the Wiimote or the GamePad. Now a Japanese company has launched a nifty adapter that lets you connect a PlayStation 4 or PS3 controller to the Wii U.

The adapter plugs into the Wiimote and the PlayStation controller (DualShock 4 or 3), and allows the player to use the PlayStation controller instead of the Pro controller.

Made by Japanese company Cyber Gadget, the adapter plugs into the USB port on the PlayStation controller, and converts the signal for use with the Wii U. So far the adapter is only available in Japan, where it retails for 2,900 Yen, or $26. It’s available on the Japanese Amazon page.

If you’re not a fan of the Wii U Pro controller, this might be a decent alternative — although we don’t really know how well it works. Another alternative is the new GameCube controller adapter which will be released with Super Smash Bros U.
