ZombiU developer: Wii U is the most innovative console today

There’s no denying that Ubisoft are betting big on the Wii U. They got 6 games coming out for the console during the launch window, and a few more games in development. The Wii U hasn’t gotten any bigger praise than from the team working on ZombiU.

The latest praise comes from ZombiU creative director Jean-Phillipe Caro, who said in a recent interview that the Wii U is the most “innovative console on Earth today”, and that the development team didn’t have to do the “big innovation” themselves, it was on a system that was innovative itself. He said:

“The Wii U is the most innovate system for the moment on Earth. We didn’t have to make a big innovation on our side –- it was all here on the system so that was easier for us”

ZombiU Wii U developerThis isn’t the first time we’ve seen Ubisoft developers sharing their enthusiasm for the Wii U. Last month, Rayman Legends creator praised the Wii U and said it was perfect for 2D games. Top brass at Ubisoft have even suggested that the Wii U could be more popular than the original Wii console.

Ubisoft is supporting the Wii U with 9 confirmed titles. A few months ago, the company revealed that it costs them around $1 million to port a game to the Wii U for including titles such as Assassin’s Creed 3. That’s relatively low compared to building a game from scratch on a brand new system — a game like ZombiU.

ZombiU will be available on day one when the Wii U launches on November 18 in the US and on November 30 in Europe. If that’s not enough, they’re already thinking of doing a ZombiU sequel.
