Wii U GameCube adapter is now back in stock

Wii U GameCube adapter

Amazon has just gotten a new batch of Wii U GameCube controller adapters, and is selling them at $30 a pop. The Wii U GameCube controller adapters have been in short supply ever since they were released with Super Smash Bros last year.

We’ve seen a few third part adapters go on sale here and there, but most of us prefer the genuine Nintendo ones. While Amazon is now selling the real, Nintendo adapters, they are charging 50% more. The adapter cost only $20 at launch, compared to $30 today. You can thank something called “supply and demand” for that.

GameStop also has the adapters in stock in store, although it appears that they are only selling them as part of bundles with GameCube controllers: $50 for the adapter and one GameCube controller, or $80 for the adapter and two GameCube controllers.

The GameCube adapter, as its name suggests, allows the use of the GameCube controller with the Wii U for Super Smash Bros. Amazon has a related deal: they are now selling Super Smash Bros for Wii U for just $45.
