Wii U eShop pre-paid cards spotted in the wild

Wii U eShop cardNintendo is betting big on its Wii U eShop. It won’t just contain older Nintendo titles via the Wii U Virtual Console, or DLC, but will also be selling full retail games. At launch, nevertheless. Since some gamers don’t have credit cards or perhaps do not wish to provided Nintendo with that information, Nintendo will be selling pre-paid Wii U eShop cards in stores.

And it looks like Walmart has leaked the looks of the cards. Walmart lists the eShop card in three flavors: $20, $35, and $50. The cards can also be used on the Nintendo 3DS eShop. The cards can only be purchased in stores and not online. Other retailers will most certainly start selling them soon as well, including GameStop, Target, Best Buy, and pretty much everyone else who sells video games.

Nintendo will be selling games, DLC, videos, and other downloads on the eShop. It’s expected that first party titles like New Super Mario Bros U and Nintendo Land will be available on the eShop at launch.

You can check out the listings on Walmart.com here.
