There’s plenty of weirdness to share from Japan, but did you ever think you’d see a Twitter client created specifically for the Game Boy/Game Boy Color? Well, it’s a thing that exists and that’s not all. Aside from accessing Twitter feeds, apparently there’s all sorts of software one enterprising Japanese programmer has managed to load up on the old Game Boy.
As you can see in that pile, there seem to be cartridges for Facebook, Skype, Evernote and ICQ, as well as older products such as Microsoft’s Word ’97 and Excel 97. There’s even a Real Player cartridge thrown in, I suppose if you absolutely wanted to hear your modern day tunes on the tinny speaker of the old Game Boy systems. It’s a unique if impractical application, but hey, these days kids are loading Windows 95 onto their smartwatches.
