Last week when asked about the graphical capabilities of the Wii U version of Watch Dogs, creative director Jonathan Morin stated that the Wii U version of the game was “inbetween current and next-gen consoles“. Now in an interview with CVG, Morin has clarified that statement to Wii U owners.

I would say the Wii U version is pretty much in between what the current gen is and what the next gen is from a version standpoint. It’s hard to position it. I would tend to say it’s maybe a bit closer to current gen than next gen for certain things but it’s a beautiful game on Wii U and it’s cool to play it just on the GamePad.

Morin also states that the company is working on “optimizing the controls for the beast that is the Wii U GamePad.”. It’s nice to see Ubisoft give focus to the Wii U, as Rayman Legends was a superior title on the Wii U with its touch controls. Morin also mentions how the game plays on the PlayStation 4 with its remote play feature. If you’re interested in reading the full interview, you can do so here.

Watch Dogs releases on November 19th in North America and November 21st in Europe.
