Watch Dogs to feature mobile compatibility to some degree

With all the emphasis placed on every day objects being hackable and controllable by the player, it’s interesting that Watch Dogs itself may feature mobile compatibility. Senior producer Dominic Guay has stated that players will be able to use their mobile devices to connect to the game in some form. This type of connection is supposed to make it feel as though the player is participating in the game with other players to make the game feel more connected than before. Guay’s statement is as follows:

“We wanted the player to be able to connect to Watch Dogs even through his mobile. Be able to play directly with people who are on their console, who are on their PlayStation 4, even if he’s on the bus. Basically to be attached to our game world even when he steps out of the living room.”

This will definitely be an interesting approach if it’s executed properly, but there could be a few hiccups for players. For example, Injustice currently has an iOS-only app available to unlock things within the game, which leaves out those running Android and Windows Phone. If Ubisoft truly wants to make sure players feel connected to their game, they’ll make sure their mobile integration is platform agnostic as well.
