Thinking of buying a Chromebook? You might want to take advantage of the deal Walmart has going on right now. The retailer is bundling a $15 gift card with the purchase of a Chromebook, but there are some things to consider first.
How does the Walmart deal work?
The deal only applies for three Chromebooks – from Acer, Samsung or HP. However, as of this article’s publication there are only 2 Chromebooks available for this deal. Acer computers must have ran out of stock for this deal, but you can currently get the Samsung Chromebook or an HP Chromebook 14.
Of course, you can choose between the Chromebook 14’s three available colors: Snow White, Peach Choral and Turquoise. You also get the option to add a carrying case for as low as $8, which is not a bad deal if you want to keep your laptop protected.
How good of a deal is it?
This is a very neat deal if you consider the official pricing on these Chromebooks, but it’s important to consider other sources too. Some of these computers’ prices have gone down recently.
For example, the Samsung Chromebook is currently going for $229.99 from Amazon. This is about $18 less than what Walmart is selling them for ($3 less if you consider the $15 gift card). It might be better to simply go with Amazon in this case.
The HP Chromebook 14 deal is not bad, though. This happens to be the data-enabled version, which is currently priced at about $350.
