Virtual Console releases are dominating the Wii U eShop sales chart

The Wii U Virtual console has been available to us for a little over a month now and it’s currently dominating the sales charts. A whopping nine out of ten titles are all virtual console titles from the top ten, which means old games are still a lucrative business when it comes to Nintendo. Of course, sales have been helped by the numerous promotions going on, including the .30 cent Super Metroid and the current buy two get one free for Kirby games. Here’s the full chart:

1. Super Metroid
2. Super Mario Bros. 2
3. Super Mario World
4. Kirby Super Star
5. Kirby’s Dream Land 3
6. Kirby’s Dream Course
7. Super Ghouls’n Ghosts
8. Kirby’s Adventure
9. Mega Man
10. Runner2
11. Pac-Man
12. Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
13. Kung Fu Rabbit
14. Resident Evil: Revelations
15. Donkey Kong Jr.
16. Excitebike
17. The Cave
18. Nintendo Land
19. Solomon’s Key
20. Wii U Panorama View: Kyoto Sightseeing

It’s interesting to see Resident Evil: Revelations sitting at 14 on that list, as it only released a few days ago. Somehow Nintendo Land is still on that chart, which speaks to how many people are buying the Wii U basic set. What do you think of this sales chart? Nintendo won’t release any numbers, but the fact that it’s dominated by virtual console releases certainly says something.
