Many of you who pre-ordered amiibos from Toys R Us were not happy to wake up to an email confirming that all of these pre-orders are being cancelled. If you received one of these emails, you’re not alone, as hundreds of people are reporting that Toys R Us are cancelling pre-orders they’ve had since before amiibo launched. Now people are contacting Toys R Us to ask what happened and customer service representatives are replying that Nintendo confirmed a delay in stock, so the cancellation was necessary.
The Toys R Us representative confirms that stores across the country will be receiving more stock from Nintendo, they just don’t know when it will be available. It seems like Nintendo really dropped the ball here and hasn’t manufactured enough amiibo to meet demand. With how quickly the figures are selling and how quick Nintendo is to discontinue less popular figures, amiibo could quickly become a hot collector’s item.
