Today’s Nintendo Direct was full of surprises, among the most interesting were several announcements regarding Mario Kart 8.
First and foremost, we got some new information regarding the upcoming batch of DLC for the game, including some footage of the Animal Crossing course, which will change seasons each time it is played. What’s most interesting about this announcement is that the release date for this DLC has been pushed forward, to April 23. Here’s the trailer so you can see the new characters in action:
That wasn’t all that was revealed though. Several new racing suits were shown off for the Mii characters in the game. You will be able to get these for your Mii drivers, using certain upcoming amiibo. The costumes featured include: Toad, Bowser, Rosalina, Wario, Olimar, Villager, and possibly most interestingly Sonic, Mega Man, and Pac-Man. Once again, Nintendo was kind enough to post a trailer so you can see what these suits look like in action:
Finally, as far as racers go, Mario Kart has been many things, but it has never been the fastest. Well that is all about to change as for the first time in series history, Nintendo is releasing a 200cc class. This class is all about speed and will test the player’s ability to break effectively, otherwise they won’t be able to make the turns. This is set to release as a free update on the same day as the upcoming DLC, April 23. We have yet another trailer here:
