Advance Wars throwback “Tiny Metal” coming to Switch

After missing their Kickstarter goal last year, developer Area 34 is back with Tiny Metal, an upcoming game that appears to be an homage to the old Advance Wars series.

In a new update to their website, Area 34 reveals that despite not meeting their stretch goal, they’ve continued work on Tiny Metal. Additionally, there’s a Nintendo Switch version coming this fall!

To accompany the announcement, Area 34 also released an extensive look at Tiny Metal this week. After watching the 11-minute video, we’re feeling the love these guys have for Advance Wars.

Here are some details on the game’s story:

Play as Artemisian Lieutenant, Nathan Gries, as he commands his units to victory against the villainous nation of Zipang.
There will be several friends and enemies along the way with varied factions, units, and abilities in the 8-10 hours of single player campaign gameplay. Players will have to carefully consider varying terrain, positioning for attacks, and strategic advancements and defenses.

When the game launches later this year, you’ll be able to command 13 units in an all-out war.
