The Switch has full support for Unreal Engine 4, in fact, even Nintendo says they’ve mastered the UE4 engine. Now Epic Games Japan are reporting that there are 20 games in Japan in development for the Switch that are built on the Unreal Engine 4.
Epic Games Japan representative Takayuki Kawasaki said that while there weren’t many Unreal Engine 4 Switch launch titles, there will be plenty of games announced “gradually”. He added:
“Now we’re gradually moving forward with Switch support for the free version of Unreal Engine 4. That way, as long as you have a Switch development license, you will be able to develop for Switch even with the free version.”
The Unreal Engine 4 is one of the most popular third party game engines in the world, and can be used freely by any developer (as long as they pay a 5% royalty to Epic Games).
