Nintendo Switch cases are back-ordered for the next two months

Before getting a Switch, I never really thought to get a case. Yeah, it makes sense, but I figured the Joy-Cons would be too small to play in portable mode comfortably, so it was primarily going to be a TV console for me. I was wrong. Now that I’ve actually been playing the Switch, I’ve found that the Joy-Cons are amazing. What’s not amazing though is trying to find a case.

A quick look through Amazon will show that the most popular case, the RDS Industries Deluxe Travel Case, is available, however you won’t get it for another month or two. If you try looking at other buying options, you’re gonna pay a premium. The next seller has the case listed at the low, low price of $49.99 plus $3.99 for shipping. You’ll get it sometime this March though.

If you don’t mind gaudy skins on your case, RDS Industries various Breath of the Wild themed cases are still available for pre-order. Those launch on March 20th, so you might want to jump on them sooner rather than later.

Unfortunately, RDS Industries doesn’t appear to be the only manufacturer who wasn’t prepared for everyone to want a case. The Hori Tough Pouch, and Premium Console Case (from PDP)  are also back-ordered or sold out completely for the next month or two.

Scalpers are having a field day with this unfortunate event too. The RDS Industries case starts at $41 on eBay and goes as high as $74.12.

If you manage to find a case at Walmart or some other retailer, consider yourself lucky.
