Super Smash Bros. will not have story mode or cut scenes

While Masahiro Sakurai confirmed at E3 that the new Super Smash Bros. would have a single player campaign, in his recent Famitsu column Sakurai has stated that there will be no story mode and cutscenes will not happen in the game due to them being leaked early on the Internet.

“Unfortunately, the movie scenes we worked hard to create were uploaded onto the internet. You can only truly wow a player the first time he sees [a cutscene]. I felt if players saw the cutscenes outside of the game, they would no longer serve as rewards for playing the game, so I’ve decided against having them.”

Despite this news, Sakurai has confirmed that he and his team have worked on introductory sequences for the new characters, including the Animal Crossing Villager, Wii Fit Trainer, and Mega Man. Sakurai also mentions an interest in doing these sequences for all the characters in the roster.

As for the 3DS version of the game, Sakurai stated that there would be a separate mode from the standard versus play for that game. What do you think of these changes? Let us know below!
