After a successful run on Steam as Stealth Bastard and the eventual port to PlayStation 4 and PS Vita as the much more mild Stealth Inc., it’s curious that Curve Studios has decided to bring Stealth Inc. 2 to Wii U as an exclusive title. But according to Jonathan Biddle, it makes the most sense. Before working a studio to help indies get their titles on the PS4, Curve Studios developed Fluidity for the original Wii. It was declared one of the best ever WiiWare releases.
According to Biddle, Nintendo wanted the first game on Wii U but the discussion was taking place after Curve was working on getting the game on the PlayStation platform, so they struck a deal. The sequel for the game would be released on Wii U as an exclusive. According to managing director Jason Perkins, it’s a prime opportunity for both Nintendo and the small studio.
“There’s the point that while the Wii U hasn’t sold in huge numbers, there are still a number of Wii U gamers out there and a very empty digital store. If we can capture a large percentage, albeit of a smaller market, it does make sense.”
If you’re unfamiliar with the game, check out this release trailer for the PlayStation 4 version. It’s an intense 2D platformer that requires skills and puzzle-solving. Currently there’s no release date for the game aside from “this year”, but the fact that it’s Wii U exclusive is very exciting.
