When Star Fox Zero made its debut back at E3 last year, I was pretty disappointed in what I saw. I thought the game looked more like a remaster rather than a game made from the ground up for the Wii U, and the new controls seemed too gimmicky.
Fast forward to the game’s release, and critics have cited issues in the same areas I didn’t like during the reveal, with Polygon refusing to even review it at all. This all had me ready to bypass the game, but with it being a collaboration between my two favorite companies in the gaming industry, Nintendo and Platinum Games, I decided to take a chance on it anyway.
Coming in with low expectations, I was pleasantly surprised with what I played. It’s not a perfect game by any means, but it’s a solid Star Fox experience. In the video below, I examine why Star Fox Zero is better than you think.
