Splatoon 2 sells 670,000 units in 3 days in Japan

Splatoon 2 is off to an impressive start in Japan: the Switch game has sold a massive 670,955 units in just three days in Japan. We knew the game was going to be popular in Japan as people lined up on launch day, but we had no idea it would be this popular.

To put it in perspective, the original Splatoon sold just 156,000 units during its first three days. Meaning that the sequel has sold over four times as many copies on launch day.

This makes Splatoon 2 the biggest Switch launch game in Japan ever, beating out Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

In fact, Splatoon 2 sold more units during its first 3 days than the combined sales of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Arms.

It’ll be interesting to see how well the game has done in the West.
