Sonic Forces developers have high praise for Nintendo Switch

Sonic Forces is the latest 3D Sonic game to be announced and while fans have high hopes for it, most are excited about the return of 2D Sonic in Sonic Mania. Despite that, Sonic Team is hard at work on making a game that they hope doesn’t disappoint long time fans.

The folks over at Nintendo UK recently sat down with Sonic Team devs Takashi Iizuka and Shun Nakamura to discuss the upcoming game and to ask some questions about the Nintendo Switch. More to the point, they wanted to know Sonic Team’s opinion of Nintendo’s latest console.

NUK: Speaking of Nintendo Switch. This is your first game for the new console. What do you make of it?

TI: In the past we have created Sonic games for handheld consoles, but the graphics weren’t as high quality as on console. But since the Nintendo Switch can be played in handheld mode as well, I think there has never been a Sonic game in which players can enjoy such high quality graphics in a handheld experience. That’s all thanks to Nintendo Switch’s power.

Sonic Team isn’t the only development team to be impressed with Nintendo’s leap in power from the Wii U to the Switch. If you’re interested in reading the full interview, you can check it out here.
