Now that Super Smash Bros. is released across the globe, many are wondering how the game is holding up in sales. If judging by the availability of accessories for the game, we’d say it’s a very hot item, but we’ve got some preliminary numbers from different regions. Keep in mind these are rough estimates and although Japan releases information weekly and is therefore the most accurate in terms of sales, the other regions don’t release detailed sales data except for every month.

In its first few days on sale in the United States, Super Smash Bros. managed to sell almost half a million and surely that number has been exceeded since the game’s release date was several weeks ago. Japan managed to sell a quarter million in its first week of sales and France is expected to sell just under that. Here’s the chart:

Smash Bros. Wii U
USA: 490.000 (first few days)
Japan: 244.747 (first week)
France: 200.000 (expected until the end of the year)
UK: 31.000 (minimum first week)

Total: 966.000

With these numbers, it’s very likely that Super Smash Bros. has already sold 1 million copies and is well on its way to selling 2 million. Expect an announcement from Nintendo soon, as Reggie was more than proud to announce when Mario Kart 8 reached 1 million sales globally.
