Masahiro Sakurai, the main developer for the Super Smash Bros. series, has been very outspoken this week when it comes to answering questions about the upcoming Smash Bros. game for Wii U. We know he’s considering Mewtwo and that adding characters to the game is a grueling process for him, but now he’s confirmed that all previous characters featured in the game won’t make the cut.

“We don’t have the time to fully recreate every single character who’s been in Smash Bros at this point.”

Sakurai goes on to explain this by saying that adding characters is more of a multiplication process, as even a single addition to the roster can fundamentally change the way the entire game plays. He says the team plans on including as many characters as possible as it’s great for fans of that character and for the game. However, for characters that don’t make the cut, Sakurai has already apologized:

“But in the event that we do have to cut some characters, I’d like to apologise in advance to those fans.”

Several fans right here on Wii U Daily have been calling for the removal of certain characters, such as Jigglypuff. What do you think? Are there any characters from the Super Smash Bros. roster that you’d like to see excluded? We always talk about inclusions but never exclusions. Let us know in the comments below.
