Slingbox is a very popular device that can stream content from your cable box to any of your smart devices. It allows you to use and control your TV from any device (or location), which made it a very popular product among those who still love live TV. Wouldn’t it be amazing if it supported Chromecast?

We are glad to inform you that Slingbox is currently working on bringing Chromecast support to its services. A Slingbox representative has posted information regarding Chromecast support in the company’s forums. There is no release window announced, but at the very least we know support is in the works and coming.

“I checked in with engineering, and although I can not give you a timeline yet, I’m happy to report Chromecast support is in development.” -Matt.Sling

In addition, popular blogger Dave Zats also states he can confirm that this is true. He has tweeted the following:

What is special about Slingbox?

As mentioned above, Slingbox is a device that can stream live TV to any of your devices, whether it’s through an app or a browser. This is done by connecting Slingbox’s device to your cable box. The device then controls your TV systems and streams video to whatever device you use.

What does this mean? Well, in a way this means Chromecast is getting live TV support. This is huge news for any Chromecast user. It also means you can take your cable subscription to any TV with a Chromecast device.

Will you buy Slingbox?

I have to say I am quite excited about this and am actually considering purchasing a Slingbox. The company offers two versions: the Slingbox 350 for $180 and the Slingbox 500 for $300. The main difference being size and the fact that the more expensive version can store videos and photos.

I might just get the Slingbox 350, how about you?
