The team at Yacht Club Games is still busy working on Shovel Knight, despite the game having officially launched on all platforms. The game’s most recent launch was on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One this month, with the Xbox One version launching just yesterday. Now that those versions are out of the way, many have wondered what the team will be up to next. The answer to that question seems to be more Shovel Knight.

In a recent interview with GamingBoulevard, the team talked about the possibility of Shovel Knight appearing in Super Smash Bros. as a character chosen by the community. The team plays Super Smash Bros. every day and plenty of fans have suggested final smashes and custom attacks that would set the Shovel Knight apart from already available characters, but the real meat of the interview is that more Shovel Knight content is incoming.

GB: What are the plans for the future? Will we see more of Shovel Knight or maybe even new games?

YC: A lot more Shovel Knight is coming for sure! Right now we’re working on DLC updates for the game including 3 playable boss campaigns, challenge mode, body swap mode, and a 4 player battle mode featuring all the knights. It’s going to be a big year for the Blue Burrower!

So three additional boss campaigns are on the way, with extra challenge modes and even a four player swap mode. If you haven’t picked up Shovel Knight yet, it’s one of the best 16-bit throwback games to be released in the modern era. I can’t wait to see what new bosses the team comes up with.
