WayForward has been behind some of the biggest licensed titles of the past few years, including DuckTales: Remastered, Adventure Time, and Contra 4. Now the team wants your help creating a new game with an original character creation that will be coming to the Wii U.
Players will take control of Shantae, a half-genie hybrid protagonist that uses a variety of moves, including a hair whip with her ponytail and belly dancing to transform into other creatures. The game sounds very interesting for platformer fans, though it’s not the first Shantae game we’ve seen from WayForward. The character was originally featured in a game on the Game Boy Color in 2002 called Shantae and just like WayForward’s more recent projects, this will be a revival of an old character in a new setting with new gameplay mechanics.
