Drinkbox Studios has been praised for its approach to unconventional games. Guacamelee was a Dia de los Muertos themed luchadore beat ’em up that’s coming to Wii U with the help of Broken Rules. For those who haven’t experienced the title yet on PS3 or PS Vita, you’ll be able to play the Super Turbo Championship edition when it’s released on Wii U later this year.
With Guacamelee! firmly behind them, the studio has announced their new project called Severus, which is just as unconventional as their previous title. In Severus, players chop up and equip enemy body parts in order to augment the player’s abilities. The trailer showcases the bold art style of the developer, while it seems like there are touch controls involved as you can see prompts to perform actions and sigils drawn on the screen, similar to the Japanese DS release of Ni No Kuni.
