Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura is “pure and wholesome”

During the latest Nintendo Direct, Japan got a surprise announcement: Senran Kagura is coming to the Nintendo Switch! Famitsu has posted a new interview with the Kenichiro Takaki, producer of the series, shedding some light on the upcoming game.

According to the translated interview, Takaki says that his team is “aiming for a pure and wholesome Senran Kagura.”

“We’re basically aiming for a pure and wholesome Senran Kagura, and our main objective is to convey the feelings of the characters through HD rumble.”

There’s some debate about this next bit, but the translation says that Asuka will be the only playable character. Sorry, Yumi fans. Since Senran Kagura is an eShop exclusive, maybe we’ll get more characters as DLC? At this time, we’re not sure.

As for HD Rumble, which seems to be the big selling point for the game, Takaki appears to be pretty excited. Instead of going into details about what the team has planned for the Switch’s unique feature, Takaki would only say to use our imagination:

“HD rumble is a particularly fascinating feature of Nintendo Switch. I expect that we’ll be able to do various things that we couldn’t do with the rumble function before.
As for what kind of things we’ll be able to do in Shinobi Refle using HD rumble, right now I’ll leave that to your imagination.”

It’s true that HD Rumble opens up a lot of possibilities for a Senran Kagura game, so I’m interested to see what they’ll be able to cook up.

At this time, Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura is a Japanese eShop exclusive. If we hear more news about the game, we’ll let you know!
