Sakurai is up to his old tricks again, this time showcasing a new secret character for the Wii U version of Super Smash Bros. Fans who have been following development of the game closely may recognize the character as one successfully identified from the leaks a few months ago, but for the sake of hype Sakurai seems to be keeping on the secret train.
As you can see the old NES Zapper features prominently in the screenshot, with Sakurai noting that the shot is from the character’s intro video. We’ll give you a single guess as to who it is if you haven’t seen the leaks already. Here’s what Sakurai had to say on Miiverse about the shot:
Here’s what’s happening behind the scenes in one of the secret fighter’s shooting moves. The object being held is called an NES Zapper. This is an accessory which was released for the NES outside of Japan. Now, this image is edited, but it’s a scene from the secret fighter’s reveal video.
With the Nintendo Direct dedicated to Smash Bros. coming up this Thursday, it’s likely we’ll see the reveal video for this character similar to the reveal video we got for Little Mac a few months back. Are you excited?
