You’d think being the creator of the Super Smash Bros. franchise would come with special privileges, like not having to hunt for the amiibos for the very game you created. That doesn’t seem to be the case for Masahiro Sakurai however, as the director of the series recently took to Twitter to lament the fact that he’s been unable to secure certain amiibo for his personal collection. So which amiibo is the man himself missing? Probably the same as you. Lucario, Rosalina and Meta Knight have all evaded Sakurai.
While Sakurai could likely pull some strings to get these amiibo in his hands, I think it says a lot about Nintendo’s supply problems across the globe and just how popular the amiibo have become. The most recent Nintendo Direct didn’t exactly address the concerns many people have when it comes to securing the rare amiibo, though we do know at some point there will be re-prints, as Marth will be reprinted.
