The NES Mini was a massive hit for Nintendo, and it looks like they are looking to replicate it this year with the SNES Mini.
That’s according to a new rumor from Eurogamer. Development of the new mini console is already underway, and it should be released this Christmas, if rumors are to be believed.
Nintendo released the NES Mini, officially known as the NES Classic Edition, last holiday season and it became an instant hit. It’s been sold out ever since it launched, all the way up until this month when Nintendo officially discontinued it.
The NES Mini production was extended to try and meet demand (which they failed). If Nintendo releases an SNES Mini, hopefully they’ve learned the biggest lesson: expect a huge demand and make enough consoles.
