Rumor: Nintendo is working on a Zelda mobile game

According to the Wall Street Journal, Nintendo is working on a Zelda mobile game for smartphones that’s set to be released in 2018.

The report also said that the Animal Crossing mobile game will be released in the second half of 2017, with Zelda following later. Both games are said to be developed by Nintendo with help from mobile developer DeNA.

WSJ’s sources are “people familiar with the matter”, so take it with a grain of salt. However, Nintendo did say that they have plans to release several mobiles games a year in the future, and Zelda could very well be one of them.

No other details were given about the Zelda game. Nintendo has had great success bringing their other big franchise to smartphones: Super Mario Run has been downloaded over 150 million times and made Nintendo tens of millions of dollars in profit.
