Data miners have been giving away a lot of Nintendo’s secrets, lately. Yesterday we saw data miners leak some file info from Mario Kart 8 that suggests two popular tracks are returning in the next DLC for the game. Now on reddit, someone is analyzing the soundtracks that have been included in Super Smash Bros. to try and determine the next DLC characters. Their findings are pretty interesting. Of course, this is all rumor and speculation at this point as there is no confirmation from Nintendo, but the fact that these files are included does mean something.
The give away happens upon analyzing the sound files that are included in the last update, including interesting entries for what appears to be Ryu and Roy included alongside Mewtwo and Lucas, who are confirmed as DLC for the next release.
First things first, new sounds. In /romfs/sound/bgm we have a slew of new sounds (and some old ones from prior updates since each update overwrites the other). The list is:

If you’re unfamiliar with these characters, Roy is a character from the Fire Emblem franchise, a series that Nintendo has been using more and more in their marketing as of late. We’ve gotten more amiibos from the Fire Emblem series, a new Fire Emblem game for Nintendo 3DS is coming, and the Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem cross-over that was announced back in 2013 actually had teaser footage in the last Nintendo Direct.
Ryu is a classic character from Street Fighter and is one of the most popular characters from that series, often considered the face of the series as his outfit is instantly recognizable. Whether Nintendo had a deal with Capcom to secure his use in the series or he was a popular entry from the Smash Ballot we don’t know, but if this turns out to be true, Ryu’s Hadouken will no doubt be his final Smash.
