Rayman Smash “leak” determined to be fake, here’s how it was made

Over the weekend, the folks over at SmashBoards.com got into a huge tizzy over a supposedly leaked file and video that showed that Rayman was potentially being considered for DLC for the game. We were hesitant to post anything because Sakurai himself stated that Nintendo has no plans for premium DLC in the form of characters for Super Smash Bros., so we decided to wait and see how this would play out. As it always does, there was tons of fighting about whether or not the reveal was happening.

The person responsible for the leak has posted the above video to his YouTube channel, showcasing how he got the art ready for the leak to make it look more official. It’s an interesting watch to see how much dedication went into trolling the Smash community with the possibility of new characters. There were even some who decreed that Ubisoft did not deserve to have a character of theirs featured in Super Smash Bros. because they left Nintendo out to dry after Watch Dogs for Wii U.

Whatever your feelings on the matter, Sakurai’s statement about premium DLC still remains true. Just remember that the next time one of these supposed leaks surfaces.
