So Puyo Puyo Tetris releases today in North America, while Europeans will have to wait until April 28th to get their hands on the game. Puyo Puyo is extremely popular in Japan and you may even be familiar with it through exposure to old games like Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine and the old Columns series on Sega Genesis.
If not, Sega’s YouTube channel has uploaded a series of ten tutorials to help you make the most of Puyo Puyo Tetris. If you thought there was very little strategy to a game that appears to be as simple as a match-three mobile game, you thought wrong! Here’s a quick peek at all the tutorials Sega has made available for the game.
You can pick it up in the Nintendo eShop for $39.99, or you can order a physical copy from a retailer like Amazon or Best Boy. Unfortunately, the Switch version is priced at a $10 premium over the PS4 version.

Whew! That’s a lot of information to swallow about Puyo Puyo Tetris. As you can see, some of these are advanced tactics that help you clear the board faster, while others are basic mechanics like teaching you about the clear pips that can appear on your screen from your opponent’s successes.
It’s unfortunate that the game costs a $10 premium on Nintendo Switch, but I’m looking forward to trying it out. How about you?
