There’s a new king of home consoles in Japan: the PS4 has surpassed the Wii U as the best selling current gen console.
The PS4 has sold 3,267,243 units in Japan, compared to the Wii U’s 3,265,329 units, according to Japanese sales tracker Media Create.
The Wii U launched over a year ahead of the PS4 — the Wii U launched on December 8, 2012 in Japan while the PS4 launched on February 22, 2014.
Worldwide, it’s a completely different picture: the Wii U has sold 13 million units worldwide, the PS4 has sold 43 million units.
