Pokemon Rumble U gameplay video revealed

Pokemon Rumble U‘s first promotional video is finally available.

The video confirms a similarity to the Skylanders franchise, in that players can purchase real-life figurines to interact with the game in various ways.

When players place their Pokemon figurines onto their Wii U Gamepad, the NFC functionality built into the pad will detect the object and transfer that Pokemon into the game world.

Pokemon Scramble U will be the first Pokemon game released specifically for Wii U. It will be released in Japan on April 24 for 1800 yen (about US$18). The first round of randomly distributed figurines will cost 200 yen (US$2) each.

Pokemon Rumble U is the successor to Ransen! Pokemon Scramble, which launched in 2009 as a Wii Ware game, and Super Pokemon Scramble (Pokemon Rumble Blast in the US and Europe), which launched in 2011 for the 3DS.
