Pokemon GO generates $1.2 billion in revenue

Pokemon GO is officially the most successful mobile game ever, passing a whopping $1.2 billion in revenue and 752 million downloads. And that’s just in one year.

Developer by Niantic and launched just over a year ago, Pokemon GO was a massive hit last Summer, even getting on the mainstream news. While hype has settled down, the game still has a massive player base. And they like to spend money, as the revenue numbers show.

Of the $1.2 billion, Apple takes 30%, meaning developer Niantic and The Pokemon Company have $900 million to split (Nintendo owns 2/3 of The Pokemon Company directly and indirectly).

According to app tracker Apptopia, Pokemon GO has about 60 million monthly players as of June 2017.

Niantic has been busy ever since launch to keep the game fresh with new features and content. The most recent update reworked the gyms and adding new Pokemon.
