Pokemon game on Switch will be a traditional “find, battle, train” type game

The Pokemon Company and developer Game Freak are working on a proper Pokemon RPG game for the Switch and now they’ve confirmed that it is indeed a classic Pokemon experience.

Meaning it’s all about the traditional Pokemon gameplay that we’ve come to know: a “find, battle, train type experience”, according to Pokemon Company president Tsunekazu Ishihara.

The Pokemon game on the Switch is still untitled and we don’t know anything about it, other than that it’s a traditional experience. During the announcement, the company said that it might not be released for more than a year. So maybe Fall 2018?

Pokemon is a huge franchise for Nintendo and Pokemon games tend to sell extremely well — the most recent Pokemon games, Pokemon Sun & Moon on the 3DS, have sold 15 million units in less than a year.

While we wait for a proper Pokemon game, there’s always the Pokken Tournament fighting game coming to the Switch this September.
