Yesterday saw the launch of Pokemon Bank in Europe, the long awaited service that lets trainers keep more than a handful of Pokemon on hand for a simple subscription fee. The app is now available for free and allows storage of up to 3,000 Pokemon. With the transporter tool, trainers can upload their Pokemon from the Black/White and Black 2/White 2 series to be used in the new Pokemon X and Y.

Pokemon Bank can be used for free for thirty days, after which Nintendo will charge $5 annually to continue using it. The subscription fee is designed to help Nintendo maintain server and bandwidth costs as the service runs. For casual users, the initial 30 day period should be enough to transfer your Pokemon and not worry about the subscription service if you don’t plan on using the bank feature.
